Tavia I. Brightwell (b. 1985), of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, served in the United States Marine Corps from 2006 until 2010 after which she joined the United States Marine Corps Reserve.

Joseph M. Bryan (1896-1995) was an insurance executive, broadcasting pioneer, philanthropist, and important community leader in Greensboro, North Carolina.

The Joseph M. Bryan papers date from 1858 to 1995 (bulk 1900s) and contain correspondence, speeches, photographs, diplomas, publications, newspaper clippings, VHS video and assorted ephemeral items.

Ruby Ficklin Bryant (1908-2002) of Emmerton, Virginia, served in the United States Army Nurse Corps from 1934-1961.

The collection includes articles about Bryant; various correspondence; photographs; and a 1997 Richmond Intermediate School article "Close Ties", circa 1997.

Pearl S. Buck (1892-1973) was the daughter of Presbyterian missionaries, grew up in China, became a professor and writer, and won a Pulitzer Prize for her novel The Good Earth in 1931. This letter was written to history professor Vera Largent on behalf of the East and West Association.

Fodie M. Buie of Robeson County, North Carolina, attended the North Carolina State Normal and Industrial College (now UNCG) in 1893. She was Dr. Charles McIver's secretary until 1898.

Mebane Holoman Burgwyn (1914-1992) was a Woman's College (now UNCG) alumna and an award-winning author of children's books.

The Mebane Holoman Burgwyn Papers date from 1931 to 2004 and contain handwritten manuscripts, typescripts, layouts, proofs, illustrations, a photograph of Burgwyn, correspondence and clippings.

Edward F. Burrows (1917-1998) was a professor of history at Guilford College from 1948 to 1979, a conscientious objector to World War II and the Vietnam conflict, and a member of many civil rights organizations in Greensboro, North Carolina.

The Edward F. Burrows Papers date from 1948 to 1982 and include correspondence, committee minutes, flyers, broadsides, publications and newspaper clippings.

In 1917, Jacques and Juliana Busbee, artists from Raleigh, North Carolina, discovered a local tradition of pottery-making in Moore County, and opened a pottery shop in Greenwich Village, New York in order to create a market and keep the art form alive. The Juliana Royster Busbee Papers date from 1911 to 1981 and contain correspondence, newspaper and magazine articles, brochures and publications, and miscellaneous items.

Ellen Mark Bush of Charleston, West Virginia, attended The Woman's College of the University of North Carolina (now UNCG) from 1946-1950.

The scrapbook, annotated throughout in pencil and black ink, includes hand-drawn illustrations, University programs, photographs, clippings, cards and correspondence.

Mary Winifred Bushakra moved with her Lebanese husband to his native country in the 1930s; at the suggestion of her friends, she published an account of her experiences there entitled I Married an Arab.

Kathryn Stripling Byer, typically referred to as Kay, was the first woman and fifth overall North Carolina Poet Laureate, from 2005-09. This collection consists of a large amount of Kathryn's poems. Many of these poems are drafts, hand-written or annotated versions of the poem. Included in this collection are 8 of Kathryn's publications (books and chapbooks), however these pieces are found in folders as individual papers.
